• LocLab is continuing work on Burmese digital safety tools and resources (with the addition of localization into several ethnic languages in Myanmar like Karen, Chin and Rohingya), outreach materials for users in Ethiopia with the upcoming elections, SecureDrop localization coordination and Bitmask Desktop localization

• UNICEF Children's data manifesto

• Team CommUNITY did a CKS Workshop focused on Human Rights and Digital Rights in Colombia and shared some ways the community can help folks that are fighting in the country:
  • If you can collaborate and support a Colombian NGO, let them know. They are at capacity and need urgent help with many things including developing emergency "digital security training", and providing digital security tools like VPNs, safe clouds, etc. Some organizations to reach out to include Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa, Noís Radio, Karisma Foundation,, Temblores, and El Veinte. However, you can also ping us via team@digitalrights.community if you need help making a connection.
  • Help identify tricks or strategies to bypass social media censorship and bans. Advice from allies outside the country who have worked on similar challenges would be appreciated. You can share your ideas in Team CommUNITY’s Latin American channel on Mattermost.
  • Help amplify stories: Activists need help ensuring that accurate information about state-sponsored violence and civilian censorship is relayed outside of the country. Use hashtags, #SOSColombia, and #SOSColombiaNosEstanMatando. If you know journalists that can cover these stories, share this context with them, including that black and indigenous bodies are experiencing the most violence in cities like Cali.
  • If you live in the US or EU, contact your elected officials and tell them to stop funding the armed forces in Colombia.
  • Follow and support organizations like Karisma Foundation, Noís Radio and Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa
  • Help document Internet blocks by downloading the OONI app if you are in Colombia. Check out this manual in Spanish on how to do this easily.

• One participant shared some tips for social media actions that they used for supporting the Palestine group:
  • avoiding using too many hashtags, 1 or 2 max
  • adding keywords like “human rights” or explaining how your content is “newsworthy” or documentary in nature
  • on Instagram: using stickers like “stay at home” or “let’s get vaccinated” (The platform boosts the engagement of such posts)
  • not commenting under each post with the campaign hashtags (could be considered spam and might be blocked from commenting)
  • posting content not related to Colombia between posts. Example: 1st Instagram story about Colombia, 2nd story shows a picture of a cat
  • removing geolocation services on Instagram

  • Sondas OONI desde la línea de comandos con ooniprobe-cli: ooniprobe-cli es la versión de linea de comandos para las sondas del Observatorio Abierto de Interferencias en la red (OONI Probe). Un software diseñado para medir la censura en internet y otras formas de interferencia de la red. También hay versiones de OONI Probe para Escritorio, iOS y Android.
