What is Glitter Meetup?
Glitter Meetup is the weekly town hall of the Internet Freedom community at the IF Square on the TCU Mattermost, at 9am EDT / 1pm UTC. It is a text-based chat where digital rights defenders can share regional and projects updates, expertise, ask questions, and connect with others from all over the world! Do you need an invite? We shared the latest 7amleh news: They launched the agenda for the Palestine Digital Activism Forum 2024 (PDAF) in its 8th edition, under the theme "Artificial Intelligence (AI): Revolutionary Promises & Discriminatory Realities.": https://pdaf.net/
And we talked about Ciber Security conventions, like the CyFy, a covening for Cyber Security industry leaders or the Zambia Cyber Security Initiative Foundation, as places to start with a low profile in cyber security to find a good spot for your work. The Zambia Cyber Security Initiative Foundation has specific programs for each group: human and digital rights defenders, journalists, civil society organizations and the general public. This project has been part of the GIF project since 2021 and they also joined the Open Spaces Zambia project in 2022.
A participant, Jose, shared about his articles, mentioned before in other Social Network Glitter Meetups, check the three articles here: https://ideas.josernitos.com/, they are focused on our relationship with the idea of technology and the actual technology we encounter in the world; what technology is (in order to understand that, we have to acknowledge how technology is a social object, a cultural artifact that is interpreted by two audiences: the creators and the users.); and what is good design, it deals with the first audience (creators of technology), and the mental framework we should have in order to design a technology.
