Welcome to the 2024 Global Gathering!

When: September 27, 28, 29

Where: Estoril, Portugal

Deadline to Apply: April 30, 2024

The Global Gathering (GG) brings together digital rights networks from around the world for three days of collaboration building, knowledge sharing, brainstorming, and rejuvenation. Event activities focus on enhancing networking, and collaborative discussions through meetups, workshops, project showcases, and much more! The 2024 edition will double in size from the 2023 event to around 900-1,000 participants, part of Team CommUNITY’s three-year plan to grow the event in a safe, secure and sustainable way to the size and scope achieved pre-pandemic.

Now Accepting Program Proposals

Deadline: Extended to June 30, 2024!

This year we are giving participants the opportunity to host two types of activities - Circles and Booths - that address one of the 2024 event’s four tracks: Ecosystem Wellbeing; Circumvention Technologies; Security, Threats and Risks; and Digital Rights 2050. The format of this year’s activities was chosen to enhance creativity and inspire an authentic exchange of ideas.

Submit a Proposal

In addition to participant proposals, Team CommUNITY will be organizing regional and practitioner meetups on the first day of the Global Gathering:

  • Regional Meetups: Africa; Asia; Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia; Latin America; and MENA.
  • Practitioner Meetups: Digital Security Trainers; Policy; Researchers.
  • Private Working Groups and Meetings: VPN Community Initiative Gathering.
