Accessibility Corner
Accessibility Tip of the Week: one of the easiest ways to start testing your website
- Start with your keyboard!
- Hit the tab key and see what happens - you may see a "skip to content" button that pops up. This means that people can get to the text and not have to tab through all the menus
- You may also see outlines when you tab through your website - this is the focus feature
- Here's a link for the keyboard shortcuts you'll need
- By using the keyboard, you're testing accessibility for people with motor disabilities that make using a mouse difficult
- You're also seeing how a screen reader works
- And it's useful if your mouse or trackpad breaks and you're looking up repair information
