Welcome to the 2024 Global Gathering!
When: September 27, 28, 29
Where: Estoril, Portugal
The 2024 Global Gathering (GG) is a social and networking event for digital rights defenders (DRDs), hosted on September 27, 28, and 29 in Estoril, Portugal.
The event is meant to provide DRDs and their allies a space to network, share knowledge, collectively brainstorm, and rejuvenate. Event activities will focus on enhancing networking and collaborative discussions, including meetups, workshops, and opportunities to demo and showcase projects. The 2024 programmatic themes include Ecosystem Wellbeing; Circumvention Technologies; Security, Threats, and Risks; and Digital Rights 2050.
The 2024 edition will double in size from the 2023 event to around 900-1,000 participants. This is part of GG’s three-year plan to grow the event in a safe, secure and sustainable way to the size and scope achieved pre-pandemic.
