While Glitter Meetups are informal, mimicking old school IRC chats, they are full of useful information such as: regional and project updates from around the world, and expertise from featured guest. In addition, participants are able to seek support in-real time from other community members.
Glitter Meetups serve as a type of weekly town hall for the Internet Freedom community, allowing the community to both share regional and projects updates, ask questions, seek support and connect with other digital rights defenders from all over the world.  GMs are an important tool for knowledge creation, and a guaranteed place where individuals can cultivate collaborations and network throughout the year.
