Signalboost is a messaging app that gives activists, human rights defenders, and journalists the power to broadcast messages and run a hotline from a single Signal phone number, allowing them to exchange urgent information with mass audiences without compromising their safety by revealing their phone number. Over the past year it has been used by tens of thousands of people around the world involved in racial justice organizing and resisting autocratic regimes.
In this session, participants will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive demo of Signalboost, learn how to make their channels and best practices for using them, and have time for discussion and Q&A.
// We will be hosting a 20 minute post-workshop networking exercise to allow folks to meet others who share their interest, and strengthen collaborations across various lines. Make sure to schedule in 20 minutes extra on your calendar, if you are interested in joining //
Mari is Signalboost's Product Lead, responsible for training new users, UX research, and product management. She is an interdisciplinary technologist with a focus on strategies of co-creating technology that empowers, rather than extracts from marginalized communities. She is currently a Next Gen Safety training fellow with the International Women's Media Foundation, and has worked as a software engineer for the ACLU and several startups.
