... Welcome to the Coffee & Circumvention (CC) network! We are so excited to have you!

The Organizing Team in Each City

How each CC local city hub will run will vary depending on the number of volunteers in a particular city and the context of a particular city. However, CC hubs should strive to an organizing team made up of a minimum of 2-4 people that represent different areas of expertise, perspectives and/or communities. For example, a strong local hub may have a technologist who can help with technical needs; an activist or journalist who understands the local socio-political landscape; a community manager that can help with cultivation and outreach; and a digital security specialist that can provide expertise to the group.

Building a Team Takes Times! Its okay!

Most hubs will not be able to build up their team immediately, and certain profiles may not be available locally. That’s completely okay! In those situations, local hubs should do the do the best they can, understanding that the ultimate goal is to help distribute the work, and ensure that the hub is truly a community-run collective that is inclusive of different communities.

Organizers may also want to consider building an informal advisory group, made of the different organizations and networks in their city, that they can lean on for help and expertise throughout the year. For example, these individuals may not want to run the meetup, but may be able to donate venue space or cover for an organizer.
