Equity Fund Updates

👉 We are relaunching the Equity Fund in 2026, after a brief pause in 2025 due to historic funding cuts in the digital rights ecosystem.

👉 The application process has slightly changed this year. Please read below for more information.

How to Apply

The Equity Fund fund supports travel, lodging, security, and visa assistance for individuals from at-risk communities operating in low-resourced environments who would not be able to attend otherwise.

You must first apply to attend the Global Gathering (GG) and check in the form that you are interested in applying for Equity Fund support. Upon approval, you will then be invited to complete a separate Equity Fund application.

If your GG application has been approved BUT you have not received the Equity Fund application, please reach out to us immediately at [email protected]

.

Through the Equity Fund we have

🌱 Directly supported more than 700 individuals from low resourced, underrepresented communities to attend the Global Gathering and advance into leadership roles. This number includes fellows from our past fellowship program, which is currently paused indefinitely.

🌱 Developed a robust, trauma-informed Code of Conduct and implementation processes, along with comprehensive security and safety protocols and equity tools. Together, these have set a trusted benchmark for community-centered, rights-respecting, and secure events.

“This was the first space where many of us from the global majority felt truly welcomed into the digital security field. For the first time, I felt like I belonged — a feeling echoed by many others who found access through community.” — Nigerian Digital Rights Defender
